NYE's Beauty Look: Retro Glam 4 Ways
4 ways to get the retro glam beauty look for New Year's Eve
Dec 27, 2011 0 CommentsThe 1970's has undeniably been one of the biggest trends this year, dominating the international fashion scene from high end runways to street style photo blogs.
From Gucci to Chloe to Marc Jacobs, designers seemed to fall in love with the era's emphasis on elegance, glamour, and luxury.
So to celebrate the end of the season, and to herald in the new year in style, why not opt for a dramatic, statement-making beauty look that's sure to go with your favorite sequined, metallic, or sheer ensemble!
The idea is to go over-the-top on the eyes, keeping the focus on them, and then to set off the look with a gorgeous sophisticated lip tint.
Check out our 4 ways below:

The Look: Green and taupe shimmer, with a glossy pink lip

First, set the base of your makeup. Line your eyes with a dark eyeshadow (black is perfect for the evening), and then color the shape of your eyes in with a rich olive green on the inside, blending it outwards into a shimmery taupe shade.

Apply long, full eyelashes, remembering to trim it neatly to the length of your eye, and then finish off the look with a little cheek contouring and a layer of glossy, pale pink lip tint.

The Look: Rouge eyes and berry lips

Start by applying dark eyeliner, making sure to dab the ends with a cotton to keep the line neat and distinct. Then using a earthy bronzer, contour the shapes of your cheekbones, following the natural curve of the bone.

Then blend out a rouge colored eye shadow, creating a gentle cat-eye shape but keeping the overall form soft and natural. Match this color with a berry-toned lip tint, and you're good to go.

The Look: Smoky purple eyes and pale pink lips

First, color in the entire eye shape with a deep, royal purple shade. Under the eyes, brush on some white transulscent powder to help emphasize the rich violet color.

Line the eyes using a thick eyeliner pen, finishing with a small tip the same length as the false lashes. Finally, brush on a layer of glossy pink, and you're set for the evening's festivities.

The Look: Smoky black and white shimmer, with nude lips

Start with a clean base. Line your eyes with black eyeliner, but leave some space at the inner corners. Fill in the space with a shimmery white color, blending the two tones gently where they cross.

Fill out about 2/3 of your eye with black eye color, brushing it out into dramatic tips to elongate the shape of the eye. At the inner corners, paint the remaining 1/3 a shimmery white, blending it gently and applying some over the black areas to add dimension and depth.
